Katrina says: "Ironically, Serge's GP colleague next door to his Prahran surgery conducted then illegal abortions - for the same reason prompting Bung Hill's research - Serge would refer patients to him. If U are not aware- Serge migrated wartime, was a qualified GP but had to retrain to get Aust. registration. Serge was also very debonair, great sense of humour and most infectious giggle."
Serge did medical training in Yugoslavia, joined the defence forces when WWII started, was captured and sent to a concentration camp in Germany.
Katrina says: "Flash schooling, learnt German and Latin. Started medical degree, deferred for WW2. Serge an officer, imprisoned in northern Germany. Postwar Yugoslavia overthrew conservative govt with communism. Serge & family were royalists, increasingly at risk in Serbia. He migrated to Aust. In 1948, finished medical degree at Uni of Melbourne."
