Marriage
Tomkins-Nette.A wedding of wide interest took place at Holy Trinity Church of England, Yackandandah, on Saturday, the 19th August, when Ena Florence, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Nette, of "Bemersyde," Yackandandah, was married to Reginald Collett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Tomkins, of "Strathmerton," East Bairnsdale.
The church was daintily decorated by Miss Florence Riddington, with spring blossom and masses of mauve primula. The ceremony was solemnised. by the Rev. H. F. P. Tassel, Mrs. Tassel officiated at the organ and Mrs. P. Lloyd sang Gounod's "Ave Maria" while the register was being signed.
The bride chose a charming frock of ivory velvet, made on slim-fitting lines, the skirt extending into a train over which fell a tulle veil, held in place by a wreath of velvet leaves. She also wore a wristlet of orange blossom and carried a sheaf of arum lillies and Christmas roses.
The bridesmaid, Miss June Riddington, cousin of the bride, wore ivory stiffened net over cream satin, and a becoming bonnet-shaped hat trimmed with natural daisies, and carried a floral muff in place of a posy.
Andre and Osborne Nette, niece and nephew of the bride, were train bearers, the former's frock being a replica of the elder maid's, while an ivory silk double-breasted suit was worn by Osborne.
Mr. Alan Tomkins, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. A reception was afterwards held at the Star Hotel, when fifty guests were entertained by the bride's parents. The bride's mother wore a navy ensemble and carried a posy of violets and primroses.
A guest of honor at the breakfast was Mrs. McDougall, aged 94 years, a great-aunt of the bride.
The young couple, who are spending their honeymoon at Warburton, were the recipients of many practical and valuable presents. Their future home will be at Dandenong.
