Individual Details
George ALBRECHT
(7 Aug 1895 - 1972)
Neil says:
I think Ivy and George married in the late 1940's. So I think it would have been seen as inappropriate for a young man and spinster to share accommodation even if she was an aunt.
The Cafe I remember going to was at Centenary Place, Fortitude Valley where Queen Street joins Wickham Street. It was underground at the tram stop.
The other was at the corner of Gold Coast Highway and Connor Street Burleigh Heads. Currently used as the Pacific Carvery.
I recall George was a big Coke drinker. Used to look forward to getting a glass of Coke when we visited.I was very disappointed one visit when I enquired about the Coke.George said he had given it up after they changed the formula.Prbably the change from cocaine to caffeine? Yep! those were the good old days?
