Nice email, and thanks. Well, I HOPE my parents were married December 1945 because Rick was born October 3/46! I will find copies to confirm :) I believe he was "the right side of the blanket" to coin an old term.

Yes, understand about "the times dictated the mode of death", as little Queenie with influenza. I don't understand my attachment to that baby, but her picture just brings tears to me. So yes, poor living conditions, no father figure to care for family during wartimes and tough work shortage times, well, it really impacted families. Tough times for many families, no matter the origin.

The "etjm" in my father's email address stands for Ernest Thomas, June Marie (my parent's full names).
I will be happy to receive information in whatever way is convenient for the sender(s). As long as I understand the line of descendants, it shouldn't be too overwhelming. If Paul's info is available, I would like to get his, too.
I believe information regarding an individual's death is definitely of interest to future generations; both in regard to health issues and just from curiosity of life circumstances during their time in history. My husband's great-grandparents were poor German immigrants living in Brooklyn, New York. His great-grandmother died in 1910 at a young age from tuberculosis, leaving behind her husband with 3 small children. Her death set into motion events that affected several generations. TB is essentially nonexistent now. Knowing her cause of death speaks to the time she lived and helps us understand why her kids were put up for adoption and ended up in different parts of the country.
If your mother approves, I would love to get a copy of your father's poetry. It is my understanding that they were married in 1946, so this poetry is from a time when they are probably excited about the future of their relationship, but dealing with the uncertainty of war. Although I never knew your father, I have a few wartime photos of him and your mother, and it would be meaningful to connect to them in a small way.

I have information ready for you from Grandpa Steward>Cyril>Rick family (my eldest brother). I don't know if you want this piecemeal or you want cousins to send all at once (and overwhelm you).
I can also get my info together easy, as I did not have offspring. I can get Paul's (youngest son of Cyril) for you, if you want me to contact him directly and forward.
Rick found some poetry of my dad's, sent to my mum during WW2, so it appears the apple does not fall far from the Steward tree. I am getting this Wed. when I meet Rick in London while visiting our mum. I can scan and send, if you think this would be interesting addition.
I wonder if asking for the reason for any death would be beneficial to younger generations? So much genetic stuff is either proved or seemingly could be genetic in nature. I do know that my dad, me, Paul all have high cholesterol and hence genetically geared toward arteriolosclerosis and heart disease.

PS - Ernie, what does the "j" and "m"in your name represent? I think "m" is perhaps your mum's maiden name, but the "j"?. I'm not certain of the "t" either or is some of it just an email address.

After a lengthy battle with cancer, Rick entered eternal rest. Predeceased by parents Cyril (1968) and Viola (2010) Steward, Rick is survived by former wife Georgina, daughter Tania (Rob) and their three children (Sarah-Lee, Chaldon and Jesse) all in South Africa, sister Dianna (Frank) and brother Paul (Judy) and their three children (Robert, Christopher and Allyson). Rick was born and raised in Sarnia and later moved to London. He was "mister fix-it" and enjoyed salvaging and bringing new life to furniture, musical instruments, and electronics. In accordance with Rick's wishes, there will be no service. Cremation has taken place with inurnment to take place at Memorial Gardens, Sarnia at a later date. Donations to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. Expressions of sympathy may be made through the Donohue Funeral Home, www.donohuefuneralhome.ca
