Layton was a manufacturer of barber equipment, traveled all over the country. He and his family settled in California in the end. He died following a lengthy illness, spent several months in the Long Beach veterans hospital.

Marriage

Newspaper articles...Breniman-Windust Miss Dorothy Breniman and Layton Windust slipped away to Marengo last Thursday and were quietly married. They returned home and failed to make any announcement of the event, but word leaked out and they were soon receiving the congratulations of many friends. They have been staying at the home of the brides parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Breniman.
Mr. and Mrs. Layton Windust were honored with a party given by the Epworth League last Tuesday evening in the Methodist Church parlors. About thirty-two guests were present, and the evening was spent in playing numerous games. After serving light refreshments, the league presented them with a cut glass water pitcher and glasses, wished them much happiness for the future.
The Marriage Certificate is witnessed by Dorothy's mother, Elizabeth T. Breniman.
