"Cleveland R. Cantrell was born in 1847 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. He accompanied his family to Dade County, Missouri in the 1850's. In 1863, at the age of 15 years, he enlisted with his Uncle James T. in Co. I of the 15th Reiment Vol. Missouri Cav. Union Army. He was continuously fighting guerrilles for the next two years. He was discharged June 30, 1865 in Springfield, Missouri, and he returned to Dade County. He married Cordelia A. McGee September 1, 1867. They continued to live in Dade County until 1880 when they moved to Collin County, Texas. Cleveland died August 27, 1920 and Cordelia died September 8, 1938 in Collin County, Texas."
