"Richard Cantrell was born in 1825 in Warren County, Tennessee. He married first in Tennessee about 1846. Two sons were born to this marriage. The name of Richard's first wife was not found in family or public records. Richard did not accompany his parents to Dade County, Missouri in the late 1840's. His first wife probably died in Tennessee, then he married Matilda _______ about 1855. She was born in 1837 in Tennessee. It is possible that her maiden name was Hulston as the 1860 census of Dade County, Missouri listed Richard and family living in the household of James and Nancy Hulston.
