Thomas C. Cantrell
(June 22, 1822 - 1885)
"Thomas Cantrell was born in DeKalb County, Tennessee, June 22, 1819 and was a small boy when his parents moved to McMinn County. He married Louisa Lawson, daughter of Lewis Lawson, near Athens, about 1843. In 1850 they moved to Missouri, but returned to Tennessee and lived in Bradley County, during the Civil War; later returned to De Kalb County, were he died in 1885. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and was highly respected in the localities in which he lived." (THE CANTRILL - CANTRELL GENEALOGY, 1908 by Susan Cantrill Christie, page 107.)

In the Spring of 1848, they joined a caravan of relatives consisting of his father and mother and numerous uncles and aunts and migrated to Missouri. They arrrived in Dade County, Missouri, November 3, 1848. They farmed in Dade County until 1855, and they returned to Tennessee, settling again in Bradley County. After the Civil War they moved to DeKalb County, Tennessee, where Thomas died in 1885 and Louisa in the 1870's." (CANTRELL - CANTRILL, 1972 by Horace Elbert Cantrell, page 406A.)
