"Green Hill community resident and DeKalb County native Willie Irene Redmon Cantrell, 92, died May 16 at her home after an extended illness. A homemaker, she and her husband moved to Warren County in 1944 where they crop farmed, ran a dairy and grew nursery. She remained on the farm after his death in 1999. She was known as the Crowder Pea Lady and was a member of Bluff Springs Church of Christ. The daughter of the late Leonard Payne and Mary Ella Hardcastle Redmon, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Donnie Herman Cantrell; son, Eddie Glenn Cantrell; sisters, Vesta Pauline Foster Johnson and Nora Lee Hoover; brothers, Newman Magness Redmon, Charles Leonard Redmon and John Roy Redmon. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Billie Dean and George Christian; daughter-in-law, Nadean Cantrell of Green Hill; sister, Ida Bell Martin of McMinnville; grandchildren and spouses, Darrell and Carol Cantrell, Donnie Lynn and Dawn Christian, Kimberly Ann and Richard Wilkinson, Laura Adelia (De De) and Scott Holmes; great-grandchildren, Leah and Ryan Magness, Natalie, Benjamin, and Emily Cantrell, Lou Christian, Lauren and Christian Wilkinson, Garrison and Emma Holmes. Services will be held at 4 p.m. today at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel with Richard Bowman and Bent McPeak officiating. Burial will follow at Webb Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service today at McMinnville Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to Lazarus House Hospice or the Central Church of Christ retirement home.
