"Sara Virginia Cantrell was enrolled in the Elgin, Illinois elementary and senior high school. After graduating from high school in Elgin, she attended the University of Colorado at Boulder 1961-65, receiving a B. S. Degree. She majored in French and Elementary Education. Sara was elected to the Sophomore Women's Honorary Society in 1962; elected to membership in Who's Who For American Colleges and Universities in 1965, elected to Mortar Board, a National Senior Women's Honorary Society; producer of Associated Women Revue in 1964; member of Kappa Delta Pi, a National Education Honorary in 1963; appointed a member of the Program Commission at University of Colorado in 1963-64; elected to membership, The Outstanding Young Women of America in 1965. She taught French in the Junior High School in River Forest, Illinois for three years. After the first year, she was granted a leave of absence for one semester to do graduate study in French at the University Alliance-Francise in Paris, France.
