James Anderson Kesler entered tbe U. S. Army February 16, 1945 and took his basic training at Fort Hood, Texas; Marksman Rifle, Medal; Trained in Army Ground Forces Center as Anti Tank Gun Crewman. Served five months with the 818th Ordnance Depot Co. in Japan, working in Company Maintenance, (On ship en route to Japan when V-J was celebrated. Went on to Japan. Visited Hiroshima and was at Yokahama for awhile). Honorable discharge 818th Ordnance Depot Co., rating T-5. Separated from the Army at Ft. Bliss, Texas, April 12, 1946. Medals: Marksmanship; Good Conduct; Occupation of Japan; World War II Victory.
