"Willis Sinclair McMullan, was killed by a man named Grady, about 1861. The killing took place at a muster of troops for the civil war near Batesville, Arkansas. Willis Sinclair McMullan was buried at Briar Church on Green Briar Mountain now known as Hutchinson Mountain, Independance County, Arkansas. Willis Sinclair McMullan, was born at Shelby Co. Ky. and married Martha (Margaret) Jane Williamson, daughter of Joseph Absalum Williamson and Thirsa Ann Martin, she was age 15/16 the couple re-moved to Kentucky, two children were born in Kentucky, Thomas Alfred McMullan and Junius, Josephus McMullan and daughter Camilla McMullan were born in Mississippi according to census report however the time frame as to where this family was living leads me to conclude census recorder made error and she was born in Shelby County, Kentucky."
