Maurice Randolph Judah

(May 20, 1911 - September 14, 1993)

"It has been my contention after talking with my father (also the father of Maurice) and my half-brother Bob (Robert, the brother of Maurice) that Maurice was named Morris Rodolphus Judah. I have been told that he changed the spelling of his first name and then renamed himself Randolph as his middle. He, as I have been told, was named after his grandfather, Rodolphus and his great uncle Morris who raised David Albert Judah from the age of two. I also refer to page 125 of the "Monroe County Indiana Family Heritage 1987, published by the Monroe County Historical Society" which refers to "Maurice Rodolphus." That information came from Maurice's brother Robert. Generally, given names were passed down through the family back then and my logic is this: Then, who was Maurice Randolph named after? This is certainly not an issue with me. Also, a person can assume or change or spell his/her name to his/her liking as I also have done (previously a Selph-Judah and then after the death of my wife, changed back to Judah). Concerning birth certificates, my original said "baby boy Judah." (David H. Judah 4/1999)
