"DAVID B. JUDAH, farmer, is a native of Montgomery County, KY, was born September 9, 1814, a son of Samuel and Elizabeth (Jennings) Judah, the former a native of Germany, the latter of Virginia, and respectively of German and German-Irish descent. Samuel Judah emigrated to the United States about the year 1790, and settled in Kentucky, where he lived more than thirty years, then moved to Lawrence County, this State, planted a crop of corn, returned to Kentucky for his family, and there sickened and died; this was in October, 1820. He associated preaching with farming, and was hostile to slavery. David B Judah remained at home until he was eighteen years old, when he learned the tanner's trade and worked thereat until 1840, at which time he established a tannery at Bloomington. January 31, 1836, he married Miss Emma Harriet, daughter of William and Jemima Parks, to which union eleven children were bestowed, of which number five sons and two daughters are yet living - Samuel N; Winepark; Elizabeth E; Morris; Rodolphus; Francis M; and Emma H. Mr. Judah followed tanning until 1873, when he gave his attention to farming, with an experience of two years in the mercantile way; his farm is situated in Brown County. His sons, Morris and Francis, are proprietors of the only grist mill in this township, also one of the best water mills. Morris is likewise a practicing physician; both are influential citizens. "Prof. Chrisler came up from Bedford Saturday on a visit to his father-in-law, D.B. Judah of Salt Creek." (The Bloomington Hawkeye, Thurs., Feb. 10, 1881.)

"David Judah, formerly of Bloomington, suffered a stroke of paralysis at 'Squire Chrisler's at Bedford one night last week, is in a precarious condition. He is 77 years of age." (The Bloomington Progress, Wed., June 10, 1891.)

"David B. Judah, a well known old citizen in this county, died at Bedford Wednesday as the result of a strock(sic) of paralysis that ht received about ten days ago. His home was in Brown county, and his remains were brought up on the noon train. Mr Judah was 77 years old and was first proprietor of what now is the Waldron tannery. He was also the first marshal of the town of Bloomington. At the time of his death, he was visiting his children at Bedford." (The Bloomington Telephone, Fri., June 12, 1891.)

"The remains of David Judah were brought to Bloomington for burial last Thursday. He died in Bedford, IN. where he was visiting his daughter Mrs. Chrisler. He was city marshall twenty years ago." (Bloomington Republican Progress, June 17, 1891.)

Buried Rose Hill Cemetary, Bloomington, Indiana (Section SP-AD Lot 219). Tombstone reads: "b. 9-9-1814, d. 6-5-1891. Wife, Emma H., also buried Rose Hill; b. 5-28-1819, d. 3-28-1888."
