Tommy Gene Lowrie

(November 18, 1946 - September 10, 1990)

"Services for Tommy Gene Lowrie, 43, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at North's Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange, with the Rev. Bill Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park. He died Monday in a local hospital. Mr. Lowrie was born in Abilene where he graduated from high school. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps from 1967 - 1969 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Action Ribbon and the Rifle Marksman Badge. He worked for the Abilene State School and Puralator Company in Abilene. Survivors include his mother, Mary Lowrie of Abilene; a sister, Katherine White of Arlington; a brother, Lynn Lowrie of Plano; four nieces; three nephews; six great nephews; and three great nieces. (Obituary - Abilene Reporter News, 12 Sept 1990) Tommy Lowrie is buried in lot Memorial Lawn, Section E-41 at Elmwood Cemetery. His military marker reads, "PFC US Marine Corps Vietnam."
