Individual Details
Mary Elizabeth Hamilton
(January 16, 1859 - November 17, 1941)
"Mary E Hamilton was a tall, slender woman. I'm told she was 5' l0" in height, and slender all her life. Too bad more of us didn't inherit that trait. As a young woman she had red hair and fair skin. She had a reputation of being a good cook. She was quiet and gentle, sort of a reserved elegance about her. She pieced and quilted quilts a lot, and I have one of her beautiful quilts. None of her eleven children inherited her red hair, although some of them did have her fair skin. The red hair showed up in some of the great grandchildren." (Mary Lightfoot, 1998.)
