Darby Daniel Fox

"Darby D. Fox, 85, of 1902 Swinson, died at 10:45 a.m. Friday in a Coleman hospital after a long illness. He was a retired rancher. Services were held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the Elmwood Funeral Chapel, formerly Kiker-Warren Funeral Home. Dr. Frank D. Charlton, pastor of the St. Paul Methodist Church in Abilene, officiated. Burial was in the Cedar Hill Cemetery. Mr. Fox was born February 21, 1888, in Live Oak County. He married Hester Perkins December 25, 1941, in Abilene. He came to Taylor County in 1932 and ranched in the Dudley area; he moved to Abilene in 1941. He was also in the real estate business in Abilene. He was a veteran of World War I and was a member of the Excell Bible Class at St. Paul Methodist Church. Survivors are his wife; one stepson, Dr. Lynn C. Perkins of Fort Worth; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Roy Kemper of Coleman; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Kennedy and Miss Agnes Fox, both of Coleman. Grandsons were pallbearers, and honorary pallbearers were members of the Excell Bible Class." (Abilene Reporter News, Abilene, Texas, February 1974.)
