Individual Details

Celia "Rosa B." "Sealy" "Seley" Thomas

(March 28, 1805 - May 22, 1828)

PIONEER SETTLERS OF GRAYSON COUNTY, VIRGINIA, by B. F. Nuckolls states on page 25 that "Rosa B. Thomas, daughter of Jonathan Thomas and wife Patience Bourne, married Shadrach Greer, they lived on Wilson Creek in Virginia." "OVER THE MOUNTAIN MEN," lists on page 26, the marriage of "Shadrack Greer and Ceely Thomas, November 8, 1821, in Grayson County, Virginia." It appears Ceely Thomas and Rosa B. Thomas could be the same person or one source is in error.

(NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY: Some researchers have given Celia's name as "Colin." I feel this is a misreading of the name at some time. Some information pertaining to the Greear family was provided by Mrs. Minnie Hall, who lives at Mouth of Wilson, Grayson County, Virginia and is associated with the Grayson County Historical Society. Her documentation includes a photocopy of the family record page of the Bible of Jonathan Thomas, family group sheets from Minnie's personal files, and ancestral charts of Calvin Weddle, of Roanoke, Virginia.)
