BIRTH, DEATH: Pension papers of James E. Drake. Declaration of Evaline Drake written 2 Aug 1864: Evaline age 19, widow of James E.Drake who was Private in co.A 143rd Reg. ILL 100 days volunteered in War of 1861, died 14 July 1864 at Memphis Tenn--measles. She was married to James E. Drake on 30 Apr 1857. He left three children surviving him under sixteen years of age, described as follows: Sarintha A. Drake was born November 16, 1858, Lucinda E. Drake born July 21, 1860 [Lucinda was crossed out], Henry B. Drake was born February 14, 1862, James E. Drake was born May 26, 1864. Appointed Wm Ricketts of Charleston attorney.//Afadavit by Lucinda and Martha McKee to truthfulness and it stated "the child the saaid Lucinda E. Drake having died before its father died, her name was therefore erased."
