MARRIAGE: Marriage License of James E. Drake and Evaline McKee dated 29 Apr 1857, Geo.Pinckly clerk, married 30 Apr 1857 in Clay Co.Indiana by Daniel Dunlavey, Min of Gospel. Dillow W. Bridges, Clerk of the Clay Circuit Court certify that the forgoing is a true and complete copy of the Record of the Marriage of J.E.Drake & Evaline McKee as appears from the Records of Marriages on file in my office I being the legal Custodian. Witness my hand ..6 Aug A.D. [year is not written]. Above found in the Pension Records of James E.Drake. It bears the stamp of the Dept of Interior.
DEATH, MILITARY: Civil War Muster Roll Pension records gave death, wife's other marriage and her children. "Enlisted in 143rd Illinois Volunteer Infantry Regiment, A private in Company A, Mustered in 11 or 18 June 1864; age 26 yrs, brown hair, hazel eyes, dark complexion, married, occupation farmer, born in Clay County, Indiana; on 21 June 1864, the 143rd Regiment moved to Whites' Station near Memphis and was assigned to guard the railroad. [At the end of James'service record are these remarks]: Died of disease [measles per family], July 14, 1864, in a hospital in Memphis, TN."
[Try 1860 census-Macon,Scott Co,Iowa for James Irvin Drake. Family said he lived there 1859-1862 when his 2 children were born. Elijah and son William died in Iowa this same time period. We had Adam Co. Could it be Scott Co.?]
