"Nellie Phelps born October 16, 1891, died September 7, 1907." (From notes written by Aggie Phelps Hammonds about 1960 to 1965.)
(NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY: From information on the marriage of Nellie Phelps and John Walters found at Arkadelphia, Clark County, Arkansas, County Clerk's Office, Marriage Records, Book O, page 226: This record shows the age of Nellie to be 19. However, I believe her age is in error. The date of Nellie's birth, that I have used in these records, were taken from two more accurate sources. First from the records kept by Agnes (Phelps) Hammonds (see above) and 1900 Clark County, Arkansas census, Beech Creek Township, sheet 8 B, listed as Nellie Philips, stepdaughter of John Brown, born October 1891 in Louisiana. Concerning Nellie's death, Aggie Hammonds' notes said that Nellie died at age 17 in childbirth, even though Aggie's records gave Nellie's death date as September 7, 1907 (which was earlier than her recorded marriage date). I am I am assuming that her death date was 7 September, but in 1908, the year after her marriage. Nellie and her infant child are buried in the same grave at Easley Cemetery, where Ralph Terry and Ben Van Camp placed a memorial stone in their honor in 1992.)
