(Abt, 1745 - Bef 1838)

Henry J. McCoy served in the 33rd Infantry, Company K, North Carolina troops per DAR Patriot records.

Henry J. McCoy's last will and testament was dated Nov. 5, 1804; probated July 3, 1809. Gives to sons, John, Neely, Abner and Jeremiah McCoy; to daughter Elizabeth Smith; to grandaughter Rebeckah O'Neal; to daughter Frankey Herdon; to daughter Polly Greer, Sally Russ, Nancy McCoy; son Edmond McCoy, under age; to son Wiley and wife Sally. Executors. Wife, Sally, and son Neely McCoy. (NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY: For many years, a number of researchers have listed a Henry McCoy as a son of Henry Greer (born about 1745). Judging from Henry's will, he had no son named Henry, at least that lived to adulthood. In agreance with long-time researcher, Mary Barnes, Sarah Greer did not marry Henry Greer (as it appears there was not a Henry), but rather Wiley Greer.)

Henry J. McCoy was on the 1789 Georgia tax list with Reuben Herndon and Jonathan McCoy. 1790 Reconstructed Census of Georgia 118-122. Not on the 1784-1793 tax list for Orange County, North Carolina.
