"John Greer was born May 4, 1806, in Franklin County, Virginia; died in Bourbon, Indiana; married, February 26, 1835, Penelope Miller Parks, daughter of James and Elizabeth (Hughes) Parks. Issue, eight: Elizabeth Ann, James Martin, Mary Jane, John Frazier, George Riley, Christopher Columbus, Marshall Finley and Oliver Perry (information and descendants listed)." "John Greer, as a young man, owned land in Fayette and Rush Counties, Indiana. Then he and his brother-in-law, W. C. Parks, bought land in Delaware County, Indiana. In 1836, when the Parks family all moved to Marshall County, John Greer and his wife, Penelope M. Parks and baby daughter, went with the family group to Marshall County. All of John's children, except George Riley Greer remained in Marshall County, Indiana. George Riley Greer moved to Nebraska, with his family." (Edna Greer Hatfield, 1965 - Lois Temple FGS 850.)
