Susanna "Susan" Macy

(Bet 1792 and 1796 - Aft 1880)

Edward Millis and Susannah Macy - marriage bond, Guilford County, North Carolina, Bondsman: Samuel Holton; Witness: John Hamilton.

Susana Trotter was living with her son, Charles on the 1870 Christian County, Kentucky census and with her grandson, Daniel M. Trotter on the 1880 Hopkins County, Kentucky census.

(NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY - September 2007: For many years, I believed Susanna was a Millis and married James Trotter. However, I had not been able to put Susanna with any parents, so a different maiden name would easily explain why. If this is the case, it would open a whole new line of ancestry for me and others in my line. Recently, a distant cousin of mine, Bob Wilson, sent me a link to Kristi Anne McKenzie's page at: http://awt.ancestrylibrary.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=kristi99&id=I670&ti=5542. Her website shows that who I believed to be Susanna Millis, was actually Susanna Macy and she married first Edward Millis and second James Trotter. I began to track down the source of Susanna's marriages and found the following ... Kristi had used as one of her references the Rootsdigger-Parisho Family website ... Macy Line ... by Susanne Kay Parisho at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~parisho/m/macy.html. It appears that Susanne Kay Parisho's information about the Macy family comes from Sylvanus Macy's Macy Genealogy (1635-1868). But it appears that Kristi was referencing Susanna Macy's marriages to Patrick D. Griffith's Griffith information, Burnham and Related Lines on Gencircles at http://www.gencircles.com/users/p_d_griffith/7/data/17758. I also contacted Patrick D. Griffith. He says he got the information from The Eliza Starbuck Barney Genealogical Record online at: http://12.46.127.86/bgr/BGR-o/index.htm, with Susanna's information at: http://12.46.127.86/bgr/BGR-o/p950.htm#i28944 http://12.46.127.86/bgr/BGR-o/p950.htm). Had not found nor even looked for another source. The Eliza Starbuck Barney Record is part of the Nantucket Historical Association. It gives the marriages, but no proofs, or source of information. I found an online version in google books of Sylvanus Macy's book, Macy Genealogy (1635-1868). This book does not show the marriages of Susanna Macy.)

Three pieces of information that ties the Macy and Trotter families together are:
1) The will (Guilford County, North Carolina, Will Book A) of Thomas Cranor - 5 April 1795 - Probated May 1796, who was married to Hannah Trotter, shows the witnesses to be Winsmore Houren, Matthew Macy, Benjamin Trotter. 2) Others of the Macy family married with the Trotter family. 3) I find a marriage bond for Susannah Macy and Edward Millis in 1809, and a marriage bond for Susannah Millis and James Trotter in 1816. It appears these are the same Susannah.
