"Marvel was born in Bent County, Colorado but since her family was on the move she received her schooling a little here and a little there. In 1940, after her seventeenth birthday she married Marion Neal and a son was born but the marriage detoriated and they were divorced. Her son was raised by his grandmother Alice Martin Lamb. Marvel married second Captain Voorhees in New York City but the marriage only lasted three months. In 1946 Marvel married David Link Scott, the son of Winifred Scott and Nannie Troutman. Marvel, a brunett with blue eyes, enjoyed swimming, riding horses and playing the guitar when she was younger. She was a bookkeeper in the business world and describes her life with Scotty and the girls as her happiest memories." (Reta M.
