"The subject of this sketch was born in Lowndes County, Alabama July 2, 1839, died March 21st 1906, aged 76 years, 8 months, and 28 days. She was the daughter of F.J. and Sarah P. Browning. In 1855 her parents with their family moved to the Territory of Arkansas, where she was raised and resided until her death. She was married to W. A. Langley July 23rd 1846. They lived harmononiously together until Oct. 9, 1863 when he was called to his reward, leaving her at a very critical time of this country's history, being in the midst of the late war, with eight little children to train and care for, six of whom survive her by judicious management and strict economy. She raised all to be grown except one little girl dying at the age of 13 years. She died in the same room and residence she had occupied successively for nearly 56 years, She loved her home and fond associates and the last few years of her life was mainly given to the traing and culture of her flower yard, as she was a just admirer of flowers. Farewell dear mother, thou hast gone where the flowers ever bloom. By the grace of God, we will follow in thy footsteps and hope to hail the happy in the Sweet By and by. Her son." (Southern Standard, April 19, 1906, page 2, column 5.)
