Amy Foreman

Informatino from Bill Greer, Illinois gives her name as Amy Johnson. Amy Johnson's maiden name is given as "Foreman," by Ann Sherman. To clear the matter up:
"It is interesting that you have the name Johnson mixed in with this Foreman/Greer bunch. The will of Isaac Foreman, Amy Foreman's father, called her "Amy Greer." This same will refers to another daughter as "Mary Johnson." Nothing else have been found concerning this Johnson marriage. It sounds as if there is a connection there somewhere.
Amy Foreman married Thomas Greer. This is indicated in the Jasper County Georgia records and the will of Isaac Foreman. Thomas appears to have remained close to the family as he is listed with various family members in a suit against the State of Georgia in the Jasper County records. (Records of Jasper County Georgia, compiled by Davis, 975.858 V2d.) This suit was listed as Edmund Foreman, Isaac Foreman, Jesse Foreman, Gilbert Greer, Jacob Foreman, Thomas Mangham, Thomas Greer and John Greer vs. The State. The issues of this suit were not listed. It appears that the Thomas Greer family had four children between 1812 and 1816 in Jasper County. These were Crawford Hunt, John R, Margaret and Leroy F. Greer.
"It is also interesting to note that the Probate records of Jasper Co. Georgia, page 41, film #0158454, states John Greer was appointed guardian of Ira Foreman, the illegitimate son of Sally Foreman and Thomas Mangham. It appears at this point that Sally is Sarah Foreman who eventually married Mr. Burton and that John Greer is the brother of Thomas Greer, the husband of Amy Foreman mentioned above. This is probably the same John Greer listed in the suit against the State of Georgia. Thomas Mangham was listed as a plaintiff in the suit against the State of Georgia noted earlier and was also a brother-in-law. Thomas Mangham married Jane Greer, the sister of John and Thomas Greer. At this time I could not find any additional information after this point on Ira Foreman, which makes sense as he probably was raised as Ira Greer.
