(December 21, 1862 - July 26, 1929)
"A. Q. Greer was born in Potts Camp, Mississippi and spent his entire life in that community. At the time of his death he was one of the wealthiest men in the State of Mississippi. He was President of the State Bank of Potts Camp, Vice President of the Merchants and Farmers Bank of Holly Springs, and officially connected with the Bank of Commerce in New Albany, Mississippi. His land holdings were extensive not only in Mississippi, but also in the delta of Arkansas." (Letter from Duke Wright Greer to Mr. L. L. "Aquilla Greer was born 21 December 1862 in Bethelhem, Misissippi. "Cud" as he was called married Cordelia Honeywood Morgan, born 3 April 1863 also in Bethlehem, daughter of Robert Greer Morgan and Emily Jones Morgan who lived in the Bethlehem community. After their marriage 2 April 1882, A. Q. Greer, as he was called, moved to Potts Camp and built the first dwelling in what is now the corporation limits of Potts Camp, Mississippi. His wife, a devoted wife and mother played a large part in his successful venture. He died 26 July 1929; she died 27 December 1945. Both are buried in the Potts Camps, Mississippi Cemetery." (MY GREER LINEAGE, 1992, by Mary Lee Barnes, page 92, as per an interview with Duke Wright Greer in 1988; a paper by Sylvester Greer in possession of Duke W.
