(NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY: In GREER KINSMEN, on page 101, J. B. Bell says the family of William Amariah Greer, son of William Greer, is the family listed in the 1850 Marshall County, Mississippi census. However, on page 56, he repeats the family, showing it to be the family of William A. Greer, son of Aquilla Greer and Patsy Arnold, with the source as L. L. McNees. In MY GREER LINEAGE, Mary Lee Barnes states William Amariah Greer is not the William A. Greer that is shown on the 1850 Marshall County, Mississippi census. Therefore, the family on the 1850 census must belong to William A. Greer, son of Aquilla Greer and Patsy Arnold, and his wife, Mary Griffith. This is verified as William A. Greer was in Marshall County, Mississippi and William Amariah Greer was not.)
"William Greer married Lucinda Mahan, 8 September 1857." (Marshall County, Mississippi Marriage Records.)
1860 Marshall County, Mississippi census, Cornersville: William A. GREER; Lucinda GREER, 27; David A. GREER, 24; Wm. GREER, 17; Nancy GREER, 14; James GREER, 11; Charles E. GREER, 8; Eliza GREER, 1/?.
