"I am still trying to learn what happened to Edward Griffith after the 1850 census of Bienville Parish, Louisiana. Stephen Greer and wife Anna and William C. Greer and Jane Griffith and their family came to Brazos County about 1853, according to some court records. However, Judith Greer and Edward Griffith and son Ralph did not come at that time. I learned that Judith Greer Griffith and son Ralph came to Brazos County in 1862. That was established from papers concering Ralph's application for a pension for the Civil War. If Edward came at that time and died prior to the 1870 census when Judith and Ralph were living in the home of Stephen Greer, I have found no record to confirm that. I believe he died either in Louisiana or was in the Civil War. I have not yet confirmed such." (Olive Ruth Nabors, 704 Avondale, Bryan, Texas 77802-1103, in 1998.)
