Individual Details
Susannah "Susan" Searcy
(October 29, 1780 - September 16, 1819)
"These meager entries show that my Great Grandfather Searcy was twice married and that my grandmother Greer is the first child of the second marriage, her Mother's name being Elizabeth Jett. As he was only about three years old when she died my father gave me no information about his Mother. Uncle David also remebered but little. From what he and one or two others in the family have told me, I gathered that she was a gentle refined and well educated woman, of course she was about medium height, blue eyes and fair complexion." (THE GREER'S by Judge James Micajah Greer of Memphis, Tennessee, May 1885, page 11.)
"My Grandmother on my Fathers side was named Susannah Searcy. She seems to have been a woman of excellent temper, good education, healthy physique and possessed a superior social attainment to her husband. Several of her brothers were men of distinction. Two of them were in Congress and one was a U. S. District Judge. Her father was for nearly forty years, clerk of a Circuit Court." (THE GREER'S by Judge Micajah Greer of Memphis, Tennessee, April 1885, page 14 - 15.)
Pedigree chart from Marge Boshard, 915 S. Westvale Drive, Anaheim, California 92804 (1994) shows the place of birth for Susannah as Bedford County, North Carolina or Virginia and her place of death as Robertson County, Tennessee. Another sheet sent by Marge from LDS Ancestral File shows her to have been born in Granville County, North Carolina.
