(NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY: John Staples Greer, son of Aquilla, Jr. and the other John Staples Greer, son of Asa "Seth" appear to be the same person, as some reseachers have shown both of them married to Latimore Sterling. The information about John Staples, son of Aquilla, Jr. is the work of Rev. J. W. Dupree, P. O. Box 828, Thomasville, Georgia 31792 and appearing in GREER KINSMEN by J. B. Bell. The information about John Staples Greer, the son of Asa "Seth" is the work of Muriel Smith, 328 S. Maple Street, Mt. Prospect, Illinois 60056 and appears in ROYAL HERITAGE OF THE GREERS by Carolyn Beal. As both Aquilla Greer, Jr. and Asa "Seth" Greer went to White County, Illinois. It appears that John Staples Greer, son of Asa "Seth" Greer was married to Latimore Sterling. As much more detailed information has been given for the children, marriage and will records by Muriel Smith, for this genealogy I have shown John Staples Greer to be the son of Asa "Seth" and Levina Greer, but have left "the other" John Staples Greer as the son of Aquilla Greer, Jr., as he could have had a son named John, but was his name John Staples Greer? I have not shown Latimore Sterling as a spouse of this John "Staples" Greer.)
"The names of the last six (children) are mentioned in John Greer's will, Jefferson County Will Book B, page 33. Also mentioned are Ella Borland and Arletta L. Steed. It is thought that they were granddaughters." (ROYAL HERITAGE OF THE GREERS by Carolyn Beal, page 200.)
