Pension records 713-305 and 926-173: enrolled February 17, 1862 at Louisiana, Missouri in Co. A, 3rd Missouri State Militia, Vol. Cavalry, Union Army. Mustered out with Co. February 27, 1865. Present with Co. October 31, 1862; December 31, 1862, absent without leave; February 28, 1863, present; April 20, 1863, captured; April 30, 1863, paroled in Benton Barracks; July 1864 on detached service at Pilot Knob, Missouri. Affidavits: Job Taylor of Rolla met the soldier after his discharge: G. W. Vaughan, aged 59 (in 1899), acquainted with soldier since boyhood. Height 5' 8" - dark compexion; dark hair, blue eyes. Pension, $6 per month, 1890; $30, 1910; widow's pension, $12, 1910; $30, 1920; $50, 1928. Came to Armourdale Tp. 1886. 8 children 5 living in 1910.
