"Funeral services for Mr. J. C. (Jim) Ferguson were held Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 in the First Baptist Church of Santa Anna with Rev. James Gibson of Bangs and Rev. Delbert Serratt officiating. Mr. Ferguson died Tuesday morning, November 7, 1967, at 11:30 in Brownwood Memorial Hospital. Born February 11, 1892 in Limestone County, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John N. Ferguson. A retired farmer and carpenter, he moved to Coleman County in 1908 but had resided in Bangs for the past four years. A member of the First Baptist Church in Bangs, he married Miss Mary Ann Langley, June 12, 1930 in Coleman. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ferguson of Bangs; one son, Leroy Ferguson of Lubbock; two step sons, James Brown of Grosvenor and Alfred Brown of Houston; seven daughters, Mrs. Bovie Hambrick of Lubbock, Mrs. Helen Parker of Anson, Mrs. Alma Carter of Los Angeles, California, Mrs. Mineola Serratt of Sudan, Texas, Mrs. Dorothy Wood of Lubbock, Mrs. Maxine Sartain of Abilene and Mrs. Carolyn Matthews of Brownwood; one step daughter, Mrs. Louzell Serratt of Sudan, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Willie Williams and Miss Ada Ferguson, both of Santa Anna; 45 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
