"Dovie Lee Cantrell was born 22 July 1876 in DeKalb County, Tennessee and was at home in 1900. She married first, Robert Lee Adcock in 1906. He was born in 1878 and was the son of James K. P. and Sarah Phillips Adcock. He died in 1920 and Dovie moved into the home of her parents. Dovie married second, Wright Avery and their marriage was soon dissolved. Dovie moved to Nashville and is not believed to have married a third time. She and Robert Adcock are said to have one daughter, Lucille. Dovie was living in the home of her niece Martha Cantrell Davis and her husband, P. G. Davis on Evanston Street in Nashville when she became ill and died 11 April 1948."
