"Willie Greer she was engaged to a Kopperl doctor, but was murdered near a flowing well in a peach orchard behind her home on her wedding day by a jilted boyfriend, a cattle drover named Robert J. Simms who committed suicide on the spot. Her birth site and name are given in letter dated 27 March 1920, from Ellen C. Greer to Sophia E. Greer." (William Greer, Illinois, 1995.)
