"I have no real proof for the connection of Leonard Greer to his father, Gilbert Greer, born about 1756 and died about 1799. His wife was Frances, no maiden name." (Faye Stowe, 112 Canteen (Canyon Lake), New Braunfels, Texas 78133; tele: 210-899-3632, 1995. Faye added Elizabeth "Eliza" Greer as a daughter of Leonard Greer.)
"Leonard Forsyth Greer, b. December 28th, 1784, Greene County, Georgia; died November 26th, 1870; (on left side) married Elizabeth [Leannah] (nee M[oore]) b. September 26th, 1791; died August 5th, 1852 (sic). He was the son of GILBERT GREER, b. c1760. Leonard's mother was Frances Marbury. On headstone to her grave: Elizabeth L., (sic) wife of Leonard Greer, b. September 26th, 1791; died in the faith of Gospel on August 5th, 1852; Jekemiah (sic) E. Greer, b. October 18th, 1813; died March 3rd, 1891; Leonard Forsyth Greer, b. May 10th, 1828; died December 14th, 1896; Martha Thrasher Greer, b. March 11th, 1837; died September 1st, 1863; and lastly, Our Father: Joseph G[ilbert] Greer, b. May 6th, 1818; died May 2nd, 1888." (David A. M.
