"On April 27, 1931, the D. A. R. appointed Celestia Wade Butler Smith as Organizing Regent of the Capt. Moses Greer at Rocky Mount. The name was to honor Capt. Moses Greer, who served with General Washington. The prospective members of the chapter (all descendants of Captain Greer) were as follows: Martha Conway Greer, Sarah Greer, Gladys Greer, Alice Greer Davis (Mrs. Lemon), Page Nelson Price, Alice Waddey Peters, Marion Greer, Catherine Skinnell, Winifred Cabell Skinnell Davis (Mrs. Russell), Bessie Moseley, Mary Cabell Smith, Mary Adele Dillard, Celestia Dillard, Elizabeth Epperson, Catherine Wade Moore, Harriet Baxter Moore, Celestia Wade Butler Smith (Mrs. Cabell), Emma Carper Hooker (Mrs. George), Elizabeth Edmondson (Mrs. Andrew Lewis), Bessie Greer Moseley (Mrs. Herman), Mary Adela Dillard (Mrs. Herbert), Laura Behethland Moore (Mrs. Thomas Pinckey), Mary Jones Carper Willis (Mrs. Charles B.), Lucy Price Greer (Mrs. George Cabell), Mary Claiborne Willis Brown (Mrs. Henry D.), Edith Greer Carper (Mrs. T.
