"The next, Thomas (McCuistion), remained in North Carolina." (THE McQUISTON, McCUISTON AND McQUESTEN FAMILIES 1620-1937, by Leona Bean McQuiston, 1937, page 323.)

"Thomas McCuistion, born Dec. 17, 1731, received a Grant of land recorded at Salisbury, Rowan County, N. C., in Book 3, page. 531. 'Granville to Thos. The following query is from Letitia Kelly Hill cnmci@RT66.com>: "I am researching the following line: Robert THOMPSON b._______ d. _______ m._______ Letitia McCUISTON b._______ d._______ Issue; Samuel, Letitia, and Robert.

"The earliest I find Robert THOMPSON in NC, he is listed as a chain carrier for a survey of 640 acres on N. Buffilow in Rowan Co, NC on 4/Nov/1751 for one Thomas DONNEL. And again on 3/Nov/1756 in a survey of 600 acres in Rowan Co., NC on the N. Buffelow for one Thomas McCUISTION, which land is granted by Lord Granville.

"On 26/Nov/1783, a warrant was issued by the State of NC for a survey to be made of a tract of 4,260 acres of land for Thomas and Samuel THOMPSON and John COOTES/COATES that lay on the north side of the Duck River on both sides of Mill Creek, by some called Flat Creek. The survey was made by 26 March 1785 and the plat drawn. The chain carriers were Bartholomew STOVALL and James CLINDINGING. This became a North Carolina land grant. This was in the 'Middle District' of the 'western country of North Carolina which became Tennessee. A NC grant was issued.

"On 23/Mar/1784, a warrant was issued by the State of NC for a survey to be made of a tract of 500 acres of land for a Robert THOMPSON that lay on the north side of Duck River beginning opposite the mouth of Cedar Creek, the first large creek on the south side of Duck River above Fountain Creek. The survey was completed on 30/Aug/1790. This is again in the Middle District of the western country of NC, which became Tennessee. A NC grant was issued.

"I can find no record in NC of a will, marriage bond etc. for Robert THOMPSON or Letitia McCUISTON. I would assume because of the above is it a possibility this information could lie in Tennessee."
