James McCuistion immigrated on 6 August 1735 to New Castle, Delaware. He moved after September 1735 to Pennsylvania. He moved after 1736 to North Carolina. He owned 420 acres of land on 18 December 1753 in North Carolina. He owned 640 acres of land on 22 February 1759 in Rowan County, North Carolina. He died on 6 November 1765 in Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina. His will was probated in July 1766 in Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina. He was a farmer. He was also known as James, "the settler."
