Mozelle Flora Phillips Brooks was born on November 9, 1928 in Apache, Oklahoma to James M. and Kathyrn (Holcomb) Hanson. She died on November 24, 2010 in Lawton, Oklahoma at the age of 82. Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 28, 2010 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Reverend Stan Baker, officiating. Viewing will be from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM prior to the service at Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Home.
Mozelle was raised and attended school in California. She married Therman Phillips in 1946 and remained in CA where she worked as a nurse and cared for her husband and 3 children. They retired in 1980 and moved to the Mountain Park area. After Therman's death, Mozelle married Louis Brooks in 1995. Her hobbies included baking, dancing fishing, oil painting and gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Therman Phillips and Louis Brooks; and a sister, Ruby Smart.
Survivors include a daughter, Sherry Balkcom of Ft. Worth, TX; 2 sons, Tyy Phillips and wife Christie of Joshua, TX, and Jim Phillips of Smith River, CA; 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and her best friend, Ken Inman of Lawton. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Mozelle's name to: American Cancer Society, 1320 NW Homestead Drive, Lawton, OK 73505, or Susan G. Komen for the Cure, 115 Park Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73102.
