"Mildred Keeney Hunter, age 89, passed away Friday, September 25, 2009 at Coleman County Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 27 in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Adam Comeaux officiating. Burial will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. Mildred was born May 23, 1920 in Coleman County, Texas, a daughter of Isaac Lee Keeney and Mary Hartman Keeney. She grew up in the Burkett area and attended school at Crossroads. On May 20, 1941 she married Sam Hunter. She and Sam lived in Burkett and later moved to Coleman. She was a homemaker and a member of the Elm Street Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband, Sam Hunter of Coleman; one son, Darrell and wife Wanda Hunter of Burkett; one daughter, Janice and husband L.D. McConathy of Burkett; five grandchildren, Duwayne and wife Adel Hunter of Coleman, Michael and wife Kelly Hunter of Lindale, Scott and wife Holly Hunter of Coleman, Colton McConathy and Aspen McConathy both of Burkett; 8 great-grandchildren; 5 step-great grandchildren; two sisters, Loretta Fenton of Coleman and Joyce and husband Charles Keller of Tyler; special cousin, Willamae Laird of San Antonio; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, L. W. Keeney ; a sister, Nita Armstrong. Memorials may be made to the Youth Activity Center, P. O. Box 766, Coleman, Texas 76834."
