Lareta Fae (Johnson) Lawrence was born October 19, 1937 in Dublin, Texas to Robert Elvin Johnson, Sr. and Floye Mae (Malone). She passed away September 21, 2015 in Carney, Oklahoma at the age of 77.
Lareta loved her family and her cat Maggie. She enjoyed cross-stich, knitting and crochet. In her earlier years she enjoyed gardening and shared most of her produce with her friends. She liked to travel with her husband to local fairs and events. Lareta embraced her patriotism in part due to her husband’s service in the United States Marine Corp.
Lareta was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Floye; husband of 30 years, Burt Lawrence; brothers, Robert Johnson, Phillip Johnson, Paul Johnson; sister, Lola Gosney; and grandson, Landon Lawrence. Survivors include her children, Stacey and her husband Leland Sample of Edmond, Robin Galyon of Carney, Donnie Galyon and his wife Traci of Oregan, Kevin Lawrence and his wife Lois of Michigan, Larry Lawrence and his wife Terri of Phoenix; (5) grandchildren, Eric Sample, Rachel Sample, Mikayla Galyon, Caleb Galyon, Mason Galyon; siblings, Curtis Johnson, Lou Alice Starnes; and many other family and friends.
A funeral will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, September 24, 2015 at the Lehman Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in the Ft. Sill National Cemetery in Elgin. Arrangements and information provided by Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
