(WADLEY) Services for Velma Bernice Hodnett Carden, 87, of Wadley were Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at 11:30 a.m. at Mountain Springs Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tim Whaley officiating. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.
Mrs. Carden died on Tuesday, July 31, at her residence.
She was born on April 1, 1914, in Whigham, Ga., to Lindsey Grier and Mary Narcis Stephens Hodnett. She was a homemaker and member of Mountain Springs Baptist
Church.
She is survived by two sons, Jerry Mack Carden of Wadley and Daniel Grier Carden of Auburn, Ga.; three daughters, Karlie Jean Fortson of Wadley, Annie Lee Carter of Bryans
Road, Md., and Rose Mary Collins of Hoschton, Ga.; one sister, Irene Knight of Wadley; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Johnnie Carden, her parents, and one brother, William Carrol Hodnett.
The family will welcome memorial contributions to the Christian charity of one's choice.
Arrangements were by Radney's Funeral Home, Alexander City.
