"A native of London, England, Packer came to the United States when he was eight years old and lived in the East until 1906 when he moved to Corpus Christi. He was a retired construction foreman and had served as past president of the Carpenters Local 1423. Packer worked with the construction company that built the Naval Air Station here and was carpenter foreman on construction of the Nueces Hotel, the courthouse, the Breakers Hotel and the old Spohn Hospital. He was a 55-year member of the Gulf Coast 100F 147. Funeral services will be handled by Maxwell P. Dunn Funeral Home. Surviving are two sons, E. H. and Fred H. Packer, both of Corpus Christi, and a brother, William Packer of Southhampton, England." (Corpus Christi Times dated September 08, 1963)
