"McMinnville resident and Warren County native Olney Hitchcock, 87, died May 2 at NHC Healthcare. A retired home builder and a member of the Church of God, he was the son of Horace and Electa George Hitchcock; and was preceded in death by his wife, Robbie Hillis Hitchcock in 1996; brothers, Carl, Euclid and Houston Hitchcock; and sister, Winona Sellers. He is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Martha and Jerry McGregor, and Margaret Hitchcock, all of McMinnville; sons and daughters-in-law, Allen and Bonnie Hitchcock, Mike and Betty Hitchcock, all of McMinnville; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Clarice and Winfred Young of Nashville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Carson and Sarah Hitchcock of Campaign, Randall and Maudie Hitchcock, Buford and Ruth Hitchcock, all of Midway, Alvin and Dot Hitchcock of Carthage and Kenny Hitchcock of McMinnville; and special friend, Edna Dillon of Rock Island. Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at High's Chapel with Rev. Roland Sharp and Rev. R.L. Geren officiating. Burial will follow at Crain Hill Cemetery in Van Buren County. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of service today at High's. High Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements." (Southern Standard, McMinnville, Tennessee, May 5, 2004.)
