"C. L. Graybeal, is of Virginia families, though born in Old Field Creek, Ashe County, North Carolina; August 25 1864, the day of his birth. His father is Simeon Graybeal, a farmer of Clinch Valley and a son of the late David Graybeal, who was a soldier of the war of 1812 and whose father came from Germany. The mother of C. L. is Martha, daughter of the late Shadrach Greer, who was a farmer of Grayson County, Virginia. His wife, whom he married at Abbs Valley, April 5, 1888, is Louisa B., daughter of Henry May, now a farmer of Tazewell County, formerly a resident of Kentucky, in which state she was born, in Pike County, on September 26, 1868. Her mother is Rhoda, daughter of the late Kiah Harman, who had a farm in Tazewell County east of the Courthouse. Mrs. Graybeal's father was in service in the late war. Mr. Graybeal's father was also in service in the state Reserve. His mother's brother, William Greer, died in the Army, in the Valley of Virginia, and many other near relatives were in the service. C.
