"Jessie F. Preiss, nee Elliott, 95, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2017. Visitation was held Sunday, June 25, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Bell Funeral Home, Pacific. Funeral services were held Monday, June 26, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Earl Towne officiating. Interment was in New Hope Cemetery, Elsberry. The Preiss family was served by Bell Funeral Home, Pacific.
"Jessie was born June 30, 1921, in Dittmer, the daughter of George Elliott and wife Annie, nee Gibbs. She was united in marriage to Oliver O. Preiss Oct. 26, 1946, in Pacific. Prior to her retirement, Jessie was the assistant postmaster at Pacific for a number of years and was employed by U.S. Postal Service for over 40 years. She also was a member of NARFE.
"Jessie is survived by three children, Ellan Pund and husband Cliff, Berger, Frank Preiss, Sullivan, and Jeff Preiss and wife Darla, Pacific; one daughter-in-law, Joy Preiss, Kansas City; five grandchildren, Bob Pund, Stephanie Bahr and husband Jeff, Paula Ewing and husband Jeff, Nathaniel Preiss and wife Halii, and Cassandra Preiss; and six great-grandchildren, Abby Bahr, Ella Ewing, Jessie Bahr, Annabelle Ewing, Ruby Ewing and Oliver Preiss.
"She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Scott Preiss; her parents; three sisters, Margaret Thurmond, Mary Feldmiller and Ruth Caplin; and three brothers, Howard Elliott, John Elliott and Ernest Elliott."
