Henry Pickett

(Abt, 1650 - March, 1702)

"The Picketts of Anson County migrated from the Virginia Colonies during the middle of the Eighteenth Century, where they had settled after coming earlier from France by way of England. The first Pickett of this line of whom we know anything definite settled in Middlesex County, Virginia, and was registered in the Vestry Book of Christ Church Parish in the year 1665. He was a cask maker by trade, and was appointed constable in the year 1692. He was married twice, first to Sarah who was the mother of his son, John, through whom the name was perpetuated. He had another son, William, who had no children, and two daughters, Sarah, who married first James Fullerton, then James Webb; and Hannah, who married Thomas Spencer. In his will (probated July 10, 1702 in Essex or Middlesex County, Virginia), he provided for a child yet unborn to his second wife, Elizabeth, who later was named James but who did not live long." ("James Pickett, Anson Patriot" by Grady R. Moore, from PATRIOTS OF THE REVOLUTION WITH DECENDENTS IN ANSON COUNTY, page 28; originally from The Messenger and Intellingencer (newspaper); compiled by the Thomas Wade Chapter, DAR, Wadesboro, NC. Wadesboro, Anson County, North Carolina Library.)

(Frances Wynn notes lists the last two children as William, who married Sarah, and Henry, who married Elizabeth, but does not mention a son James.)
