Thomas Pickett

( - )

"Not much is known about Thomas Pickett, the youngest son of James Pickett and his wife, Hannah, however he was right along with his older brothers, serving his country in tis time of need. He was made ensign in the First Regiment, North Carolina line at Salisbury, October 20, 1775, and was placed under the command of his brother, Captain William Pickett. On January 4, 1776, this Regiment was disbanded. Later he was made a lieutenant. He probably is the Thomas Pickett who later resided in New Hanover County, North Carolina." ("James Pickett, Anson Patriot" by Grady R. Moore, from PATRIOTS OF THE REVOLUTION WITH DECENDENTS IN ANSON COUNTY, page 33; originally from The Messenger and Intellingencer (newspaper); compiled by the Thomas Wade Chapter, DAR, Wadesboro, NC.
